Template: Family Door TypesAll doors in the template have Hollow Metal frames. The default frame dimensions are 5 3/4" x 2" for Jamb frames and 5 3/4" x 2" (gypsum partitions) or 5 3/4" x 4" (masonry or concrete walls) Head frames. Frame Width (5 3/4") can be adjusted as an Instance parameter. It is located on the Instance Properties Box under the category Dimensions. Default door height is 7'-0".
|
Doors can be Metal with a Painted finish, Wood with a Painted or Stained finish or Generic with no finish. Generic door are used as placeholders for preliminary models or until specific door finish/type selection is finalized.
Door Types |
To the left are the typical Door Types in each Door Family. Proper selection of door type will populate the door schedule with the correct door material, and door finish. Default door size is 6'-0" x 7'-0" for double doors and 3'-0" x 7'-0" for single doors.
Door sizes other than default are created within the project as a new type. Select the correct door type (material and finish) prior to duplication and rename with the extension indication door size in inches (width x height). For example a 3'-0" x 8'-0" wood door painted: Door_Wood_Paint_42x96. |

Door Tags
There is one Door Tag family with two Types (Door Number & Door Egress). Door number is shown on the left. Door Egress is shown on the Right and used for Life Safety plans.
|
ADA Door Clearance RequirementsWhen the door is selected or high-lighted in plan view, reference planes are dispayled on the latch side of the door to denote minimum required ADA clearances. Reference planes can be used for alignment to adjacent element surfaces. Additionally a Interference Check can be run for door ADA compliance with walls.

Door Schedule |
New Door Families |
The Door Schedule is located on sheet A007. Parameters used in the Door Schedule are coordinated with parameters in the Door Families loaded in the template. Care should be taken when revising the door schedule or creating a new Door Schedule due to specific shared parameters used in door familiy creation. If the parameter in the Door Schedule is not the identical parameter used in the door family the schedule will not display the parameter information.
|
New door families should be made by duplicating existing door familes to maintain consistent shared parameters that will display in the Door Schedule
|
Door Naming Conventions
Door naming conventions loosely follow SDI 106-99. Double doors have a leading D in front of the designation (i.e. DF, double flush door).

Fire Rated Doors
Additional 'Instance' parameters are added to doors used in Fire Rated Wall Assemblies. Selection of the corresponding door to wall assembly is made by User in the Instance Properties Box (see below). Selection of the Instance parameter triggers the Fire Tape across the sill in Plan View (see image at right).
Currently the following doors contain the Fire Protection parameters as indicated below:
|
Rated doors are created at the project (rvt) level. The correct door type is duplicated and renamed (i.e. Door_Wood_Stain 45 MIN). Add the correct rating to the Type parameter 'Fire Rating' (see below).
