This is an outline for starting new projects/work-orders utilizing our 'Database' files as linked backgrounds. Some of the steps may be moved in their order.
There is also an example under the BIM Management /Project Files tab. A Copy with example is also located under the BIM Management tab, Project Files sub-tab.
Copy database files to the project folder (typically a floor plate file and a core and shell file).
Open the floor plate file from the project folder.
Start a new project using the current Mayo Project Template (rename and save-as to the project folder).
If this is a Work-order run the Dynamo definition 'Work Order'
Return to the floor plate file.
New project file.

- Open the floor plate file and verify the core and shell location is from the project file (not the database). Set the core and shell file the Attachment.
- Create an Assembly of the elements to be demolished and set category to <Walls - Walls 001>. Modify the Comments parameter of the Assembly to <demolished> (all lowercase).
- Select all rooms associated with the assembly and modify the parameter Comments to <demolished> (all lowercase).
- Run the Dynamo definition 'My Project Filters'.
- adds and applies filters to views
- Copy the Assembly to the Clipboard
Start a new project using the current Mayo Project Template (rename and save-as to the project folder).
If this is a Work-order run the Dynamo definition 'Work Order'
- Existing Floor Plan: From the clipboard <Paste - Aligned to Current View>.
- Select the Assembly and modify the following parameters:
- Phase Created - Existing
- Phase Demolished - Demolition
Return to the floor plate file.
- Open the Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog box and open the Filters tab:
- #Assemblies - toggle off
- #Rooms - toggle off
- Save and Close floor plate file.
New project file.
- Existing Floor Plan:
- Link the floor plate file <Insert Tab - Link Revit - Origin to Origin>
- Select the Linked file and modify the following Type parameters:
- Room Bounding - toggle On
- Phase Mapping
- Existing - Existing
- Demolition - Existing
- New Construction - Existing
- Demolition Floor Plan:
- Open the Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog box and open the Revit Links tab:
- Set Display Settings to <Custom>
- Set Linked view to <XX FLOOR PLAN - ARCH>
- Set View filters to <By linked view>
- Set Color Fill to <By linked view>
- Close Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog box
- From the Ribbon select the Analyze tab - Spjace
- Add spaces to rooms
- From the Analyze tab select Space Naming - Options: Names and Numbers
- this operation will inherent the room names and numbers from the linked file
- New Construction Floor Plan:
- Open the Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog box and open the Revit Links tab:
- Set Display Settings to <Custom>
- Set Linked view to <XX FLOOR PLAN - ARCH>
- Set View filters to <By linked view>
- Set Color Fill to <By linked view>
- Close Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog box
- View tab - Create new Scope Box to define limits of construction
- Run the Dynamo definition 'Scope Box Set to View'.
- sets floor and ceiling plans to new scope box
- Run the Dynamo definition 'CropRegionHide'.
- Run the Dynamo definition 'Scope Box Set to View'.
- Project setup complete.
